About Dr. Xue’s Appointments

    • Dr. Xue’s private lessons are limited to no more than 5 hours per week, no more than 3 weekly students, and are primarily reserved for students with genuine learning needs. Our student teachers, under Dr. Xue's guidance, offer private tutoring in Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Geometry, AMC 8, and MATHCOUNTS. Some advanced student teachers are available to tutor Algebra 2 and Precalculus. All of our student teachers have undergone rigorous interviews and teacher training.

      Meet Our Student Teachers

    • All meetings are conducted via Zoom. Every minute will be dedicated to supporting your child's learning. We do not use private lessons or consultation sessions for marketing purposes. If we recommend any extracurricular math or science activities for your child, whether through us or another instructor, the recommendation will be based solely on their needs.

      Private Lesson Best Practice

    • Our live online small-group classes (which we call pods) typically consist of 3–8 students, with no more than 6 students in the student-teacher's classes and no more than 12 students in Dr. Xue's classes. This ensures that each student receives adequate, individualized attention. Dr. Xue regularly monitors each student’s progress to ensure they are appropriately challenged and periodically drops by student teachers' classes to gather feedback for potential improvements. Tuition for all courses is collected monthly. If a student drops a course, a refund will be granted if the request is made at least one week in advance. Re-enrollment in the same course requires a $30 fee. New students can take up to 3 trial lessons, paying per session, before committing to a full course. Some problem-solving classes also offer the option to pay per session for the entire course due to their unique design.

    • We expect both students and parents to maintain professionalism in all communications and to come prepared for meetings.

    • Length: 10 minutes per student. A brief extension of up to 5 minutes is possible, subject to availability. Additional time may require a consultation fee.

    • How to: After we receive your New Student Intake Form or New Student Inquiry Form, you will gain access to a link to schedule a session, if needed.

    • Pre-Meeting Expectations: Before booking a meeting, we ask that you carefully review key information on our website, especially FAQs | School Docs and Forms | Classes, which include links to our school rules, payment and refund policies, class success guides, available classes. These preparations will allow us to focus on your most important questions during the scheduled time, which often require personalized guidance and cannot be resolved through our published resources. At our school, we place a high value on work efficiency.

    • Mutual Discovery: These sessions are not only an opportunity for new students and families to learn more about our school, but also for us to get to know prospective students and families. We carefully consider each student’s readiness and fit for our program.

    • No-Show Policy: If you schedule a meeting but do not attend and fail to provide prior notice, you are welcome to book a paid consultation session (15 minutes for $30) should you wish to meet at a later time.

    • $120/hour: This is a one-time appointment. Personalized Math Education for K-8 Students, Starting Math Competitions in Grades 5-8. Choose between a 45- or 60-minute appointment, typically conducted with the parents of the student. Families who have already taken the complimentary new student consultation are not eligible.

    • $160/hour: This is for regular consultation sessions. K–12 Math Education, Starting Research in High School, Undergraduate and Graduate Studies.

    • $300/hour: Career Development: Navigate transitions, set long-term goals, and grow with purpose. Starting Your Own Business: From vision to execution—strategic planning, branding, and sustainability.

    • If your child needs regular homework help for math below Algebra 2 and Precalculus, we recommend private tutoring with one of our student teachers at a rate of $30 to $50 per hour. Some of our advanced student teachers are also available to tutor Algebra 2 and Precalculus at a rate of $50 to $60 per hour. Dr. Xue provides training and support to all student teachers to ensure the success of our tutoring program.

    • Dr. Xue’s Lesson Rates: $150/hour for all topics. Up to 3 students per week.

      For K–12 math topics, this rate includes two to three sections of pre-recorded, tutorial-style video lectures—valued at $30–$35 per hour of private instruction—to help students learn the material and revisit to deepen their understanding.

    • Competition Math

      Our year-round training programs for competition math combine the strengths of multiple different curricula commonly used in the US and China. All classes are kept small to ensure students receive individual attention. We recommend enrolling your child in live classes if possible ($20–$40 per hour). If there are schedule conflicts, you can subscribe for the pre-recorded videos and live recordings. If your child has questions about the recordings and needs more individualized guidance, you can schedule supplementary private lessons. Some of our advanced student teachers are available for teaching private AMC 8, MATHCOUNTS, and AMC 10 Beginner lessons at a rate of $40-$50 per hour.

    • Dr. Xue’s Rates:

      • $150/hour for AMC 8, MATHCOUNTS, AMC 10, AMC 12, or similar contests

      • $180/hour for AIME

      • $200/hour for USA(J)MO

      • All materials, except textbooks, are included.

    • Pre-College Research and Math Modeling Contests

      • Rate: $200/hour

    • Our SAT and ACT preparation program offers a comprehensive, customized approach tailored to each student’s strengths and weaknesses. Through diagnostic assessments, personalized study plans, and targeted lessons, students build a solid foundation in fundamental concepts while developing effective test-taking strategies. Regular progress tracking and full-length practice tests ensure students feel well-prepared and confident on test day. Typically, the program lasts 6 to 8 weeks and meets twice a week, though this may vary based on the student’s academic background. For very advanced students, one or two consultation sessions may suffice, while others may require additional lessons to achieve their desired results.

    • Rates:

      • All materials are included.

      • Dr. Xue’s Rate: $150/hour

      • Student Teacher’s Rate: $50/hour. We guarantee that the assigned student teacher has completed specialized training in providing this service, ensuring a high level of preparedness and quality.

    • Options:

      • Twice per week with Dr. Xue

      • Once per week with Dr. Xue and once per week with a student teacher

    • Parent-Teacher Conferences

      Dr. Xue offers parent-teacher conferences at the 4–6 week mark, towards the end of a course, and as needed. Each conference lasts 15 minutes and costs $30. Longer sessions can be scheduled for an additional fee. We recommend attending at least one conference for each course lasting more than 10 weeks. These sessions provide a valuable opportunity to discuss your child’s progress, gain insights into their learning, and receive personalized advice for their educational journey.     • Teacher-Training

      Teacher training is offered at a rate of $120 per hour. Choose between a 30-minute or 45-minute session, based on Dr. Xue's recommendation.
